My name is Andre, I am a truck dispatcher here with Status Transportation. The reason I came into this opportunity is because my father was a truck driver. I always wanted to get into this industry because I knew there’s always a lot of moving parts in owner operator trucking and I really enjoy it.
The skills you need to be a dispatcher is to be able to negotiate and get the rates that your owner operators need to have. The trucking market is continually changing throughout the year and you need to be able to negotiate higher and better rates for your drivers.
I think one of the most challenging parts of working as an owner operator dispatcher is actually trying to keep track of load rates throughout the year with all the season changes. Fortunately, our dispatchers here at Status Transportation always have trucks in different areas of the United States, and we are able to know when and where those rates are going up or going down. As a professional owner operator trucking dispatcher, I have the knowledge of where to send our drivers in order to provide them with the highest paying owner operator jobs.
Personally, as a dispatcher, I do feel that being friends with my owner operators is very important. This type of synergy helps us to continue working efficiently and make the most profit. I find it very rewarding to help my owner operators to meet their weekly revenue goals.
Something I would like to say to my owner operators is how much I appreciate them being out there on the road. When it comes to regional or over the road owner operators, truckers are away from their families for long periods of time. If you decide to sign on to Status Transportation I know you won’t regret your time out there on the road.
